Nexus to ‘Focus Forward’ at June 23 Leadership Intensive

Cranston, R.I. –  Thursday, June 11, 2020—Committed to empowering women to reach an amplified level of leadership, the Women in Leadership Nexus will explore how to get back on the road and maintain career vision in the face of adversity in its June 23 leadership intensive.

The training, “Focus Forward: What Road is Coming into View?” will assemble Nexus members to reflect on the last few months, identify moments of clarities about what they want most next with their careers, and begin to plot the pathway forward to reach desired goals. To spark dialogue and introspection, attendees will have the chance to hear from four future-oriented women who have built careers upon focusing forward, recalibrating in the face of hardship and spotting new pathways to fuel their dreams.

“Over the past few months, in the face of unthinkable hardship and pain, we have been able to realize what we want most when it comes to our careers, leadership pursuits, family, passions and work-life integration,” said Carrie Majewski, Nexus Founder. “For some of us, what we have realized will forever change our leadership trajectory as we realize there are changes we want to enact immediately. For others, we have received validation that the road we are on is the perfect road for achieving our goals. Others may be somewhere in the middle.”

“We will come together for this leadership intensive to honor the parts of our self that we have seen with greater clarity, learn from others in hearing their story, and recommit to getting back on the road—despite the tenuous environment we find ourselves—to fight for what we want most with our leadership,” she added.

To help spark ideas about what road may be coming into view, attendees will have the chance to hear from four women:

Caine said: "On the eve of my grandson’s second birthday, a month after being ‘sent to our rooms’ I had a revelation about plans, they NEVER turn out like we expect them. There were three major life events that marked me and my ability to focus forward. I’ll share how a decision, faith, and building resiliency muscles gets us back on course. With one major, not so secret ingredient.”

Eckstrom said: “Each of our journeys is unique, and while our challenges may not be equal, one thing we all have in common is that we all have a superpower, whether we have identified it yet or not. Finding out what that superpower is can look a lot like the yellow brick road, fraught with challenges and joy, unexpected enemies and friends, and lessons around every turn. Finding our way down this road is a life-long journey, but learning how to look inside ourselves and identify that superpower is an empowering moment that can open the world up for a whole new perspective.”

Mullen said: “Leadership is about moving from victimhood to victory! I had to overcome my internal struggles to conquer some inner battles along my leadership development trajectory. It's not about erasing the impact of moments I felt slighted but addressing the conditions.”

Twitchell said: “Born with Symbrachydactyly Syndrome (only two fingers on my left hand), I grew up overcoming all the obstacles and insecurities that came along with it, personally and professionally.  After several years of hiding my hand so I could feel accepted by others, I eventually chose to embrace what made me unique and welcome it as a strength. Listening to understand and leading with vulnerability are two core values at half full, llc. That was a risk I took as a female business owner when I started the business 15 years ago, and one I am incredibly proud of as I reflect on what is happening today. This is who I am and why I am. I am looking forward to sharing my story with like-minded women who stand by their own why.”
